During The Golden Age of Piracy, pirates used pistols and other firearms to gain some tactical advantage over their hapless victims. The pirate pistol models we have in store are small, light and swift guns based on the flintlock mechanism which effectively replaced the earlier versions of the matchlock and wheel-lock technologies. The pistol size proved to be a great use in boarding attacks as the pirates simply tied them to their belts, and some pirates like Blackbeard were even known to have worn a lot of them. But the main drawback of the pirate pistol was that it only fired a single round and was particularly hard to load.
Not to mention that it takes almost forever to reload, these pistols were also very inaccurate and did not have a long rage. So to compensate for this inadequacy, pirates would carry more than one pistol in addition to a sword or dagger in order to survive. Although vulnerable to wet conditions, pirate pistols still became a part of almost every pirate and every ship battle in the 17th and 18th century. Here at DungeonKnight we have some of the different types of pirate pistols for your choosing. Order your pistol today and get to own a piece of history to display in your collector’s room.
