Greek Armor

There are many variations of a Greek armor throughout the centuries and oftentimes, the topic as to what the real thing really looks like due to the many cultures and subcultures in Greek history has made it a complicated issue to discuss. At best, a Greek armor is described as a wraparound of reinforced quilts with wide shoulder flaps; its lower part a skirt of loose strips of leather, much like that found in Roman armor. A cuirass, or thorax, of hammered bronze plates realistically embossed to portray the muscles of a naked torso was also worn to protect the chest and back of the Greek soldier. Greek body armor was completed by bronze greaves, which is a covering for the lower legs, and by a round oxhide shield. Their helmets were designed to enclose the entire head with a Y-shaped opening for eye-slits and for breathing. The movie Troy could give one a better understanding of how Greek armors look like, or you could just browse thru our collection and purchase one for your collection. At Dungeonknight.com, we're proud to present our ancient greek armors and greek cuirass muscle armor.
